Fish Graders

High-precision grading of fish

VAKI's Graders sort fish by size automatically, spreading them evenly across every track to protect grading accuracy and fish welfare. Choose the 5, 7 or 10-Track model built for your operation.

Accurate and high-precision grading

The VAKI Graders deliver accurate fish grading while minimizing the impact on your fish as they pass through the outlets. The dewatering unit distributes the fish evenly over the width of the grader, so all grading tracks are used effectively.

The opening of the grader is controlled with electric linear actuators that can be operated from a control panel on the grader, remotely from a smart device or automatically from the VAKI Counter which counts, measures size and calculates the split between the grades.

The size opening for each grade is displayed on the digital display. The grader is built from high-grade stainless steel 316L and selected plastic materials that are corrosion- and water-resistant. The inclination of the main sorting unit can be adjusted from 5-10° either with an electric actuator or manually.

  • High-precision grading with electronic adjustment of grade size settings and grader tilt.
  • Full-width fish inlet for maximum spread and gentle handling of fish.
  • Connectivity to VAKI Cloud and VAKI SmartFlow for enhanced operational efficiency.
  • Compact design with high capacity and easy adjustability.

THE GRADING CHALLANGE

Grading fish is important for the feeding needs, growth and development

The benefit must outweigh the stress of handling

More equal access to feed

Larger, dominant fish can outcompete smaller fish. Grading can reduce this imbalance, giving smaller fish better feeding opportunities and reducing competition.

More precise feeding

Groups of similar-sized fish make it easier to match pellet size and feeding rates to their needs. This supports efficient feeding and helps avoid waste.

Easier production planning

In practical terms, narrower size ranges help farmers plan tank allocation, transfers and harvest batches: faster-growing fish can move forward while smaller fish receive more time to grow.

How VAKI Graders work

The devices are designed for high precision grading of fish, ensuring gentle handling to promote fish welfare.

1

Fish enter evenly

The dewatering unit distributes fish across the full width of the grader.

2

Grading happens automatically

Electric linear actuators open each outlet to the size you set: from the control panel, a smart device, or automatically from the VAKI Counter as it counts, measures and calculates the split between grades.

3

Each grade exits gently

Outlets are designed to minimize impact on the fish as they pass through, routing each grade to where it needs to go.

Common questions

It depends on your throughput and fish size range: the 5-Track handles up to 7,500 kg/h, the 7-Track up to 40,000 kg/h, and the 10-Track up to 15,000 kg/h. Compare the three above, or request a quote and our sales team will help you size the right model.
